LATE MR. F. J. BROOKS
Mr. Frank Jefcoate Brooks, who died at his home, Fairview Road, Mount Eden, yesterday at the age of 81, was born near Maidstone, Rent, and came to New Zealand in 1863. After spending several years in the timber business at Glenmore he joined the Auckland branch of the Bank of New Zealand, and later, after serving at Thames and Gisborne, was appointed first resident manager of the Cambridge branch, which had previously been a sub-office of Ngaruawahia. Until 1907 Mr. Brooks served as manager and was then appointed town clerk of Cambridge. He came to Auckland when he retired in 1920. He was greatly interested in church activities and acted vestryman and synodsman of St. Andrew’s Church, Cambridge, and of St. Barnabas’s Church, Mount Eden. He married a Miss Evans, the daughter of the loeaj Presbyterian minister, while at Cambridge. He is survived by his wife, three daughters. Mrs. Walter Uee, Waitomo, Miss E. Brooks and Miss G. Brooks, Auckland, and one son, Mr. J. F. Brooks, Te Awamutu.
