FLOOD RELIEF
NEW ENGLAND WORK CARING FOR REFUGEES By Coble.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 11.12 a.m. NEW YORK. Tues. With further danger from the New England floods definitely past, the work of relief and rehabilitation is progressing rapidly. Soldiers and Red Cross volunteers are caring for the rufgees in temporary barracks. The situation generally Is greatly improved, notwithstanding the snow and intense cold. In some sections sufficient food and medical supplies have reached the centres where the suffering is severest, and the danger of disease has been greatly lessened. It is impossible at present to compile a complete list of the dead, but S 5 bodies have been identified, the majority of whom are Vermont residents. An enorinous acreage of land is under water, and this renders many homes still inaccessible to the rescuers with supplies, but the problem now is largely one of administration and the re-establishment of the lines of communication.
