MUNITIONS FOR CHINA

DISCOVERY AT ANTWERP ARMS ABOARD SHIP By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Monday. A story of arms smuggling is narrated in the "Daily Express.” The steamship Glenogie, which carried a crew of 47 Chinese, was sailing between Antwerp, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai with a general cargo. The captain received a note from a stranger just as he was about to leave Antwerp, saying 250 automatics and 5,000 rounds of ammunition were hidden in the ship. A secret search carried out by the officers revealed the fact that the information was correct. The arms and ammunition were in small packers hidden in oil tanks. The officers held a conference and decided to throw them overboard. They reported the matter to the police in London. It was undoubtedly intended to take the munitions to China. —A. and N.Z.
