CRICKET GAMES IN THE PROVINCE

(From Ouv Own Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Monday. « The cricket match between Korakonui and Te Awamutu High School was played at.Korakonui on Saturday and resulted in a win for the latter by 60 runs on the first innings. The school team, most of whom are new to the game, were strengthened by the inclusion of three teachers, E. Armstrong, who withstood the Ivorakonui bowling for an hour, made 11, and with Winter added 40 runs for the first wicket partnership. F. Frazer, for Ivorakonui, carried his bat, and compiled 46. Winter made 21 and 38 in the two innings. Te Awamutu and Te Ivawa clubs met at Te Awamutu on Saturday. The home team batted first, and after seven wickets were down for 158 the innings was declared closed. Shepherd was top scorer with 47, G. Morris 28, C. Blundell 23, Barnett 13, Grist 14, C. Roberts 10, and Lord, not out, 11. For Te Kawa Smart was the principal scorer, and compiled 53 out of a total of SB. Ashton, scoring 12, was the only other player to get double figures. AT NORTHERN WAIROA (Special to THE SUN.) DARGAVILLE, Monday. All four teams in the Northern Wairoa Cricket Association championship competition are now level in points. In the competition on Saturday Southern, 94, beat Dargaville, SI, and Pukehuia A, 114, beat Pukehuia B, 110. WAITOA v. MORRINSVILLE (Special to THE SUN.) In a cricket match on Saturday afternoon Waitoa, playing on its home ground, defeated Morrinsville by five wickets and 77 runs. Cooper 43, and Garner, 47, were the top scorers for Waitoa, whose score totalled 155 for five wickets. Morrinsville was all out for 78.
