POWER BOARD LORRIES EXEMPT FROM TAX

“NOT COMMERCIAL VEHICLES” Press Association. TIMARU, Saturday. A case in which the Timaru Borough Council claimed that the South Canterbury Power Board’s two motorlorries should be subject to tax under ihe motor-lorry regulations was heard in the Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Adams. The board contended that its lorries were not subject to tax because they were not “commercial” vehicles. Finally the judge, after quoting numerous authorities, upheld the Power Board’s view, and gave costs against the borough council.
