INCREASED ACTIVITY A better tone in the London butter market is recorded in the following cable received this morning by the Auckland office of the Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd. Other week-end cables from the firm's overseas representatives are also quoted:— London. —‘'Butter rapidly advancing; firsts, 172 s to 1745; Anchor, 1765; considerable activity at lower prices; unsalted. 184 s to 188 s nominal; retail falling Monday to New Zealand Is 9d, Danish Is lOd, North England Is 3d and Is 9d. Cheese unchanged.” New York. —“ Butter: Extras 48 cents (Is 4id fo.b. Auckland).” Montreal. —Butter 375 cents (Is 5d foJ£). Slight improvement in demand.” *
