APPRENTICES ACT BREACH Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The district registrar of apprentices, Mr. W. J. Wakelin, proceeded against James Carter and Sons, Limited, in the Arbitration Court to-day, for a breach of the Arbitration Act. A penalty of £lO was imposed. It was alleged that the firm had employed two youths as apprentices to the welding branch of the trade, and the apprenticeship committee had refused to allow this arrangement, holding that the boys should learn welding as a part of their training as engineers. Against this decision the firm had appealed, but the appeal was disallowed. However, the firm had still employed the boys in defiance of the committee’s order and the Court’s rul- - ing. j
