THAMES VALLEY ELECTRICITY

QUESTION OF COMPETITION Recently the Thames Valley Elec-tric-Power Board entered into an arrangement with the Te Aroha Borougn Council to supply current in bulk for a period of five years. Now that final arrangements are being entered into a draft agreement is being made. At Tuesday’s meeting the borough council made a request that the board should delete the clause allowing it to enter into competition with the council. The chairman. Mr. F. M. Strang*, contended that the clause was a regulation under the Power Board Act, and to his mind was only fair and reasonable. At the same time there was little chance of the board entering into competition. The motion was lost by a substantial majority.
