A GOOD TOW

BARGE ARRIVES AT WHANGAREI

On Saturday morning a big barge fitted with a high-power boiler and winding gear, arrived at the Whangarei Town Wharf from Auckland in tow by the powerful launch Omana. The barge is owned by Messrs. JMounce and Son, contractors, and will be used for cutting a channel through the standstone bar below Kioreroa. in the Whangarei Harbour. The tow' was a good feat, as the trip was made in 13 h hours sailing time. Onerahi was reached on Friday night in under 12 hours, and both craft remained there overnight. It is expected that the contractors will be able to make a start in about a week’s time.
