HALLOWE’EN NIGHT

CELEBRATIONS AT MANUREWA The Manurewa Bowling and Croquet Clubs celebrated Hallowe'en Night last evening at the Manurewa Picture Theatre. A very successful attempt was made to raise funds for the improvement of the grounds held by the clubs. Numerous stalls and sideshows were in evidence, and they all helped to swell the funds for a good cause. The stallholders were as follow:—Ice cream, Mrs. R. Forties; sweet stall, Mrs. Robinson; fortune telling, Mrs. Dunham; supper rooms, Mesdames Osborne, Gallaher, Whitton. Brown and Miss Knight;' supper surprise packets, Mrs. Wriglev; fancy hats, Mrs. Wood. The side-shows were in charge of: — Hoop-la, Messrs. Wilcox and Frost; raffles, Mrs. Osborne; lighting candles, Mr. Osborne; nail driving, Messrs. Gallaher and Robinson. Winners of the competitions were:— Baby’s dress, Airs. Dunham; nail driving, Mrs. C. Robinson. During the evening the following contributed a very successful musical programme: Miss Gladys Osborne, song; Mrs. Wrigley, elocutionary item; Misses Ina West and Diana Lodge, gipsy dance; and the following took part in a sketch entitled "The Magic Bears,” Mrs. Frost, Misses G. Osborne, K. Smith, J. Beattie, H. Finlayson, M. Rogers, Messrs. H. Gray, L. Pegler. B. Pegler, C. Yeoland, S. Pegler. Madame Aileen Frost pleasingly fulfilled the duties of accompanist.
