“HELD BY THE LAW”

COMING TO TIVOLI An exact duplicate of a New York courtroom was built at Universal City for scenes in “Held by the Law,” the Universal-Jewel production which is scheduled for the programme of the Tivoli Theatre on Thursday. Some of the most important scenes in the picture take place in this set, and those who have seen the production declare the courtroom sequence is one of the most dramatic, and at the same time, one of the most technically correct trial scenes ever made for the screen. “Held by the Law” is concerned with a murder and the trial of an innocent man on circumstantial evidence with the eventual discovery of another’s guilt, and it is said to have been based on a recent murder trial in an eastern city which parallels the story written by Bayard Veiller, author of the picture.
