WHANGAREI MEETING

AND DAYLIGHT SAVING The spring meeting of the Whangarei Racing Club is to be held at Whangarei on Thui'sday and Saturday of next week, November 10 and 12. Weights for the first day are to bo announced to-morrow, and acceptances close at 5 p.m. on Friday. Daylight saving comes into force next week-end, and the Whangarei fixture will be the first round these pai'ts held under the new order of things. The club has drawn up an excellent programme, commencing at 12.45 p.m. each day, so that the last race will not be run until 6 p.m. Although a disadvantage to travellers from a distance, it will suit the townspeople very much better than under the old style. The Whangarei Club’s experiment in this direction will be watched with interest by other clubs. On public holidays, however, there can be little advantage gained by making a late start; rather will it prove a hindi'ance. It is a splendid idea for week days, especially Saturdaj's.
