AN AUDIT TAG
PROBLEM AT GLEN EDEN MEMBER DISQUALIFIED A special meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board has been set down for Wednesday evening next to consider correspondence from the Audit Department bearing on transactions between the board and one of its members, Mr. A. J. Routley. The transactions referred to were made the subject of a charge by two members to the effect that Mr. Routley had indirectly supplied the board with goods to the value of 10s. , The Audit Department had returned the board’s balance sheet with a “tag” intimating “that the transactions between the board and Mr. Routley disqualified that gentleman as a member of the board in the terms of Section 22 of the Town Boards Act, 1908.” In a covering letter from the department on October 11 the following instruction was set out:- “I have to direct attention to the terms of my certificate to your board’s balance sheet for the year ended March 31, 1927, and shall be pleased to learn that the board has taken the necessary steps to adjust the above-mentioned matter.” CYDONIA FROM MONTREAL. —The New Zealand Shipping Campany reports that the Cydonia is fixed to leave Montreal on November 23 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Sydney and Melbourne. NO REPORT FROM SITHONIA. —Dp till 1 p.m. to-day no radio report had been received from the steamer Sithonia, which is expected from Texas to unload 3,300 tons of sulphur at Auckland at King’s Wharf, and the remainder of her cargo at Lyttelton, Dunedin, Wanganui and Sydney. Messrs. R. Millar and Company are the local agents. OMANA SAILS TO-MORROW.—The Lamb steamer Omana returned to Auckland from East Coast ports yesterday morning to complete unloading coal and poles for Australia. To-morrow she is to be dispatched with timber for Sydney. The Northern Company are the local agents. ONEHUNGA-NEW PLYMOUTH SERVICE.—The Northern Steamship Company advises that the Ngapuhl during November will leave Onehunga at 4 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. for New Plymouth. Today the Ngapuhi sails at 4.30 p.m. PAKEHA DELAYED. —The departure of the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Pakeha from Wellington has been postponed from to-day until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, when she will leave for London via the Cape Horn route. SYDN EY-FIJ I CARGO SERVICE.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Waiotapu will leave Sydney to-morrow for Suva and the Hauraki on November '29 for the same port. Both vessels will take cargo for transhipment to the Tofua at Suva for the various Island ports. MAKURA AT SAN FR AN CI SCO.—The Union Company advises that the R.M.S. Makura arrived at San Francisco on Friday from Wellington. The vessel is timed to leave the American port on Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington and Sydney, and is due at Wellington on November 21. LABURNUM AND HAPAI DOCKED.— PI.M.S. Laburnum, together with the Auckland Harbour Board’s dredge, Hapai, went into dock at half-past nine this morning to have their hulls cleaned and painted. The Laburnum is undergoing her periodical refitting and the Hapai is under annual overhaul and survey. ROTORUA SAILING. —At present loading at Auckland, the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Uner Rotorua leaves here at 5 p.m. on Wednesday for Napier and Wellington to complete. The Rotorua is expected to clear the last* mentioned port on November 10 for Southampton and London, via Panama. HARPALYCE REPORTS.—According to a radio message received by Henderson and Macfarlane. the tramp steamer Harpaylce is expected to arrive at Auckland on Wednesday morning from Ocean Island. The vessel is bringing a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at this port. TOFUA LATE.—The Union Company has been advised by radio that the Island passenger steamer Tofua is meeting with adverse weather and is not expected to arrive at Auckland until 6 p.m. to-morrow from the Islands. The vessel is to berth at the Queen’s Wharf and is announced to leave again at 11 a.m. next Saturday for Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. CORINTHIC’S ITINERARY. The White Star liner Corinthic leaves Wellington to-morrow morning for Auckland, where she is due next Thursday morning to complete her discharge of London cargo. The vessel subsequently loads at Gisborne, Wellington, Auckland and Napier. She is due back here on November 16 and sails finally from Napier on November 26 for Southampton and London, via Panama. A. S. Paterson and Company will act as the local agents. K! A ORA AT NEW PLYMOUTH.—The local agents, L. D. Nathan and Company, have received advice that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Kia Ora arrived at New Plymouth yesterday from Nelson and lea\-es to-morrow for Wellington and Auckland to complete her loading. She is due here on Monday next and is scheduled to sail finally from this port on November 10 for Halifax, London and West of England ports via Panama.
