FREAK SPARROW AT RAILWAY STATION

A SPARROW with a particularly long beak is an object of considerable interest at the Auckland railway station.

Evidently the bird is a freak. His companions are just ordinary inquisitive spar-, .rows which feast every morning on the crumbs lying between the rails. His beak seems to have grown out of all proportion to his body and is about three times as long as the average.

Ho the lady sparrows object to his deformity?, Not a bit of it. He is at present engaged in building a little home for two, up in the spouting of a neighbouring building.
