RECORDS FOR STRAND

THEATRE’S NEW POLICY The new policy at this Fuller-Hay-ward theatre will be inaugurated on December 16 when “Ben Hur” will be screened. The Strand will be run as an extended season theatre on the same lines as the Prince Edward Theatre in Sydney. The theatre will open twice daily, at 2.30 and 8 o’clock, and every seat will be booked. The Strand has been selected because it is considered a theatre which lends itself particularly to the extended season system. It is the theatre which still holds the record in New Zealand for the greatest number of people admitted in one week.

This was accomplished when “Robin Hood” and “The Kid” were screened. That no other theatre has yet eclipsed these records, although they were made some years ago, is the proud claim of the Strand management.

Sam Hardy, popular leading man of stage and screen, lias been added by Sam E. Rork to the cast of his forthcoming First National special, “A “Texas Steer,” starring Will Rogers. Hardy recently played a featured role, with Lois Wilson, in Robert Kane’s

“Broadway Nights” for First National, and has just completed a role in the new Charlie Murray-George Sidney vehicle, “The Life of Riley.” Ann Rork and Louise Fazenda had previously been signed.
