Results: MATAWHERO HANDICAP 1 mile. A —COOL CARD, 8.10 1 I—EPISTLE, 9.10 2 B—CARNIOLA, 7.13 3 Scratched: Merry Damon. Won by threequarters of a length, a neck between second and third. Time, 1.44. Royal Diadem made the early running, but failed in the straight, Cool Card finishing fast on the outer. SECOND HURDLES HANDICAP U miles. 1— ROYAL HEATHER. 11.9 4 3—WAIOEKA JACK. 11.7 2 2 COMEDY PRINCE, 10.10 3 All started. Won by one and a-half lengths, three lengths between second and third. Time, 2.49. Royal Heather reserved his effort for the last half mile, cleared the last two jumps with Waioeka Jack, and came away to win comfortably.
