CROQUET CLUB OPENING
The lawns of the Tatuanui Croquet Club were looking their best on Wednesday, when the club’s official opening was held. The president, Mr. A. D. Cooper, in a pleasing speech, welcomed the visitors; from Morrinsville and Te Aroha. The lawns were then declared open for theensuing season. The afternon was spent in a series of competitions, of which the winners were as follow’: Clock golf, Mrs. Butler (Morrinsville) 1, and Mrs. J. Nola, 2; target croquet, Mrs. Butler (Morrinsville) 1, Mrs. Norton (Tatuanui) 2; break croquet, Mrs. Butler (Morrinsville) 1. Mrs. Reid (Morrinsville) 2; progresive croquet, Mrs. Anderson (Morrinsville) 1, Mrs. Cooper (Morrinsville) 2. During the afternoon a dainty afternoon tea was served. Mrs. Clark, vice-president, in th< absence of Mrs. G. Howie, president of the Morrinsville Club, briefly thanked the ladies for their hospitality, and wished the club every success. SALE OF WORK A successful sale of work was held in St. Peter’s Parish Hall. Takapuna, yesterday afternoon in aid of the unemployed relief fund. The committee comprised the following:—Mesdames Julius Williamson, (J. H. Matthews. 11. L. Bowden, C. Black. W. Hayden, i Hooper, A. Seaman. Richard, and ; Misses R. Brett and R. Blomfield.
