UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF

WORK ON MORNINGSIDE RESERVE A scheme for the improvement of the Morningside Reserve as a means of relieving unemployment was outlined at a meeting of the Morningside Domain Board last evening. The improvement scheme is supported by the ratepayers and a number of letters were received asking what action the board proposed taking in opening up the reserve as a sportsground. A sketch plan of the proposed improvements, consisting of a large playground for children, playing fields, lawns and gardens, was forwarded by the engineer of the Mount Albert Borough Council, members of which constitute the Domain Board. It was decided that the engineer be instructed to go further into the question, and give details of the proposed work; also that a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. J. H. Langley, A. A. Buckley, B. Brigham and R. J. Allingham, be formed to supervise the progress of the work. >
