THEFT CHARGE FAILS

INCONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE A verdict of not guilty was returned in the case of Leonard Walter Nash, who was charged at the Supreme Court yesterday with the theft of a brief bag and contents valued at £4. It was alleged that the accused snatched the bag from Gertrude Beesing at 12.30 a.m. on July 27. When seen later he was searched, blit the bag was J hot found, and he denied all knowledge of it.

“The evidence of identification in this case is most inconclusive,’ said Mr. Beattie, for the defence.

Mr. justice Herdman said the case was a. weak one, and the jury might not think it safe to convict. The verdict accordingly was given from the box.
