MAJESTIC
“RICH BUT HONEST” Fox Films laugh-producing comedvdrama, “Rich But Honest,” which has been showing to crowded houses at the Majestic Theatre, will l>e finally screened to-morrow. This entertaining picture is the screen version of Arthur Somers Roche’s magazine story of the same name. Nancy Nash, Clifford Holland, Ted McNamara, Charles Morton, and Marjorie Beebe have the principal roles in this gloom-chaser.
An interesting attraction on the supporting program© is “The Maori Messiah —A Visit to The New Jerusalem,” in the wild Urewera country. Mr. Rudall Hayward, well-known film producer, recently visited the wild Urewera country, one of the last parts of New Zealand that has defied the advance of the pakeha. Here, in the heart of the virgin bush, lives the great Maori “prophet” Rua, and his 200 followers, who regard, him as a “Messiah.” Mr. Hayward visited Rua in his bush stronghold, and secured the first pictures of this unique place, and the people who live there. Views are shown of the beautiful Urewera track, the village and its life, the mission station, and Rua and his seven wives. The Majestic News is composed of the latest world events, and in aditidon some important local news. Included in the Eve’s Review is a beautiful scenic of sunny Gibraltar, Britain’s stronghold in the blue Mediterranean. A Felix cartoon and a “Big Boy” comedy, “Atta Boy,” conclude the supporting pictorial programme. The musical programme rendered by Mr. Whiteford-Waugh’s' new Majestic orchestra is an entertainment in itself. A sparkling and humorous musical novelty is being featured. The orchestra mounts the stage, and against a magnificent background renders “The Southern Wedding” (Letter). The bride is represented by the piccolo (Mr. Frank Poore), the groom by the trombone (Mr. Sly), and the clergyman by the bassoon (Mr. Alec Stewart). Other musical gems included in the incidental music rendered are
“Liebestraum” (Liszt), “Arabian Serenade” (Langey), “Legende Basque” (Maquarre), "Coppelia Ballet (Delibes), “Serenade” (Drdla), “Manon” Opera (Massenet), “Rustic Revels’ (Fletcher), and “Allegro Vivace” from “Symphony” (Schubert).
