MONT LE GRAND CROQUET CLUB

OFFICIAL OPENING The official opening of the Alont Le Grand Croquet Club took place on Saturday afternoon. The day being beautifully fine, there was a record attendance of members and their friends. The president, Airs. Hughes, welcomed the members and guests, and wished tlie club every success. She also thanked the members of the Dominion Road Bowling Club for their many kindnesses during the past season. All*. W. D. Kelly, president of tlie Dominion Road Bowling Club, also spoke a few words of welcome to tlie ladies, and wished them a very pleasant season. Air. E. H. Potter, Mayor

oC Mount Eden, and vice-president of the croquet club, who was also present, said it gave him great pleasure to be with the members at the official opening. He congratulated the members on their excellent lawns, and on tlieir success during the past season. ' He then declared the greens open, and Airs. Hughes played the first ball. Progressive croquet was played, the winners of the A section being Mrs. Davey and Airs. Thomas, and of the B section Aliss Thompson and Mrs. Jones. Afternon tea was served by the ladies in the pavilion, which appeared to be a bower of beautiful flowers, the colour scheme being carried out in the club’s colours, blue and gold.
