AT DIXIELAND

BIRTHDAY DANCE The second anniversary of its birth at Point Chevalier was celebrated by Dixieland last evening, when a specially attractive dance was held. The cabaret has once more been added to, and now the corners where once one was apt to catch a chill have been transformed into the cosiest of lounges, each with 'its protecting wail, and each containing a cosy divan. During the evening a huge birthday cake was cut by “Miss New Zealand,” Miss Dale Austen, who looked particularly charming in a delicately crystal beaded frock of powder blue georgette, with a white wrap of fox fur. Clyde Howley and his Internationals —now grown to the number of eight, by the addition of another, sombrefaced banjoist—dispensed the joyous kind of music they do dispense, and everybody loved them. Clyde Howley of course, did his “nightly nine” to the delight of the crowd, proving conclusively that he possesses not a bone in his snaky body. Mr. Loveridge, as usual, attended to the comfort of everyone, being, as he always is, just in the right spot at the right time. The only thing that ever displeases this cheery lad is when someone starts playing- “ring-a-S ’l,; 1 ", the middle of the floor, men his face is worth watching - ! Among the many present were:' A I J S - Taine, fringed frock of cherrvshaded georgette. y Mrs. Middleton, crystal beaded frock of white georgette. ‘jock veUb’eadinU i;ilaek georgette, with sil-' Mrs a.
