YOUNG MAN’S DEFIANCE
DRUNK AT FAREWELL PARTY YJUHEN Frank Charles Ashman, aged 23, was sentenced last month for attempting to commit suicide, he was prohibited. He forgot that on Saturday. Ashman pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to charges of drunkenness and breach of his prohibition order. Senior-Sergeant McCarthy: This is the man who was saved from jumping off Grafton Bridge by two women. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, to accused: Why did you take drink when you were prohibited ? "I*m going to Sydney,” said Ashman, “and I was at a farewell party.” “Farewell party,” replied Mr. Hunt. “I’m not going to have orders of the court laughed at.” Ashman was fined £5, in default seven days' Imprisonment.
