TWO BROTHERS FINED £lO ASSAULT IN CITY Joseph Kane, aged 24, and Francis Kane, aged 21, appeared at the Police Court to-day for sentence on charges of assault and theft of beer. Mr. F. W. Schramm, who appeared on their behalf, called evidence which showed that accused were good workmen. “Had they not taken the action they did, the complainant might have been in the dock instead of them,” said counsel. “That sort of direct action is not | going to be tolerated in this town,” j said the magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, as he fined accused £lO each on one charge, and ordered them to ac up for sentence when called upon • n the others.
