MINING DISPUTE
MT. BISCOFF CLAIM OBJECTION TO LICENCE (From Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, Thursday. The Thames Wardens’ Court is engaged hearing an objection lodged by Thomas George' de Renzy, of Auckland, against the application of F. IT. Claxton for a prospecting licence over certain property in the Coromandel Peninsula, known as the Mouht Biscoff Mine. The land in dispute is associated with the well-known Zeehan Mine. Counsel for Mr. Claxton stated that Mr. de Renzy’s licence expired on September 1, and therefore the land was open for application by anyone. The objector had wired to his solicitor on August 31 to renew his licence, and some delay had occurred through a set of circumstances. A large number of witnesses are being examined, and the history of the Zeehan Mine Company for the past 20 years is being raked over. The case is proceeding.
