STRAND

NEW PROGRAMME Another popular programme has been arranged by the Strand management, commencing to-day. Again it is presenting a big double picture bill. “The Secret Studio,” and “Why Girls Go Back Home.” “The Secret Studio,” starring Olive Borden and Clifford Holland, has been described as "the picture that takes you on a thrilling joy-ride among artists and models,” and is stated to be a perfect blend of drama, comedy and pathos. Olive Borden is the star and the theme is said to have universal appeal. It has action every moment—one scene paving the way for the next scene with intriguing interest and powerful attraction. Ben Bard, Clifford Holland, Waler McGrail, Margaret Livingston, Joseph .Cawthorn, Noreen Phillips and Kat: l3ruce are featured in the well-chosen cast. “Why Girls Go Back Home.” which will also be shown to-morrow, offers an engagingly new angle to this old but interesting question. Patsy Ruth Miller and Clive Brook are co-featured in this story of a girl who was so fascinated by a handsome matinee idol that she followed him to New York and to disillusionment. Starting in the chorus she won stardom on her own merit after she had been spurred on by the actor's indifference. His later love for her. their reconeriliation and marriage, sent her back home to show off the handsome husband she had won to the homo folks. The supporting programme will be composed of a Strand Magazine and a hilarious comedy. The musical programme arranged by Eve Bentley for her popular Strand Symphony Orchestra will in itself be an entertainment. Gems from some of the most popular and most famous overtures and modern music will be rendered.
