PLAYING FACILITIES

PROGRESS AT MILFORD

At a meeting of the executive of the Milford Progressive Association on Tuesday evening, it was reported by the chairman of the Recreation Committee, Mr. R. David, that the three tennis courts at Kitchener Park are in good playing order, and are ready for the coming season. Games will be commenced on Saturday, when a large number of players are expected to enroll. The free tickets issued to school children are being appreciated* greatly. Mr. David has also procured eight swings for the children, and these are now ready for erection in the park. It is hoped to have these ready by Labour Day. The playing facilities are to be increased in the near future. The association officially recognised the appointment of the secretary, Mr. P. S. Gee, to the executive of the North Shore Expansion League, whose aims are receiving the whole-hearted support of the association. It was recommended to the borough council that it should purchase two vacant sections at the corner of Inga Road and Milford Road to give direct access to the bridge now being built. This would ease the present sharp corner. Flood-lights at the foot of the streets on the beach frontage and on the spit at the entrance to the Wairau estuary were also suggested.
