QUALIFYING ROUNDS Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. Play in the Wellington ladies’ provincial golf championship commenced at Heretaunga yesterday, when the two qualifying rounds for the provincial title were decided. The entries, which total 117, constitute a record and are from all parts of the Dominion. The best scores in the qualifying rounds were: Miss Payton, Rotorua, 86, 76—162. Mrs. Guy Williams, Mas ter ton, 82, S 3— 165. Miss S. Weston, Palmerston North, 83, 82—165. Others who qualified were: Miss O. Kay (Dunedin), Mrs. Shailer-Weston (New Plymouth), Miss Seifert (Palmerston North), 167. Miss Acheson (Nelson) and Miss V Upham (Miramar), 168. Miss Gould (Christchurch), 160. Mrs. Stout (Wellington) and Mrs Sclanders (Wellington), 171. Miss Rathbone (Auckland), 173. Mrs. God by (Christchurch) and Miss Brandon (Wellington), 174. Mrs. Grace (Wanganui) and Miss Ganierill (Wellington), 375.
The teams match,’ based on the second qualifying round, was also held, the Auckland team, comprising Miss Payton 76, Miss L'pton 87, Miss Rathbone 87, and Miss Hamlin 90, winning with an aggregate of 340.
