The delightful sunny smile •with which the closing day of the Auckland Trotting Club's Spring Meeting was ushered in brought to the Epsom course to-day a host of dainty frocks and modes ever so attractive in their springtime charm. Colours were as bright as ever, but the garments in which their charm was expressed were infinitely more alluring than most that have made their appearance at earlier meetings. TRAFFIC BREACHES COST MUCH MONEY

MANY OFFENDERS FINED

There was a long list of traffic cases at the Police Court to-day, and many offenders were fined by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. For dangerous driving the following were each fined £2: —John H. Delevan, D. Armishaw, Almond Dunningham, Warwick Dufaur, Mary Wilson, Walter J Pugh, Frederick Taylor, George Wilson, Frederick Cunnold, Wallace Archer, Frederick Burns, A. V. Carter, R. B. Davidson, Harry Meyer and Thomas Bennett. 11. F. Kent. Harold Babb, Kenneth Isherwbod, Herbert Carson, Geoffrey Wheeler, Thomas Bennett and Leslie Barnett were each fined £3. R. T. Sheppard, May Allen and Harry Sandies were each fined £l, and H. G. Fisher was fined £4. For leaving motor-cars unattended William Andrew', Henry Young, Andrew Charlton were each fined 10s, and Mary Brown was fined ss. For failing to obey the signal of a traffic officer Martin Bourne. Rex Porter, Norah Worms and Bathie Umbers were each fined £l. For driving without a heavy traffic licence, W. J. Webb was fined £1 on each of four charges. POLICE PROSECUTIONS The following offenders prosecuted by the police were fined by Mr. E. C. Cutten. S.M.: For leaving cars unattended A. Holton was fined £2, and G. W. Mercer 10s. For having cars insufficiently lighted E. W. Griffiths was fined 10s and T. Holdsworth £l.
