OLYMPIC SPORT
AUCKLAND ORGANISATION At a special meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Olympic Association last night, Mr. E. A. Craig presiding, a set of rules of the Auckland constitution was approved. It was decided to forward a copy to the Olympic Council In Wellington for approval. Several local sports bodies and associations expressed a wish to become members of the local branch, and also to be represented on the local council. It was decided to extend an invitation to a member of the Olympic Council* Wellington, to address a special meeting of all sports bodies and interested persons in Auckland at an early date, and that the election of officers of the local branch should be deferred until after this meeting. A suggestion was also put forward that, in the interests of Olympic sports, a citizens’ committee should be appointed in conjunction with the local branch. Mr. Craig stated he had written to the Olympic Council, Wellington, asking for a definition of the status on an amateur, and had received a reply that steps had been taken to cable the British Olympic Association for its ruling on the matter.
