N.Z. MARKSMEN IN SYDNEY PLEASED WITH EFFORTS By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright SYDNEY, Monday. The captain of the New Zealand rifle team, Masefield, says the first few days of heavy mirages and heat in Sydney troubled the team, but when they became used to the heat they adapted themselves to shoot quickly under the changing conditions, and improved considerably. The members of the team are particularly pleased with their efforts in the King's Prize and Commonwealth matches. The National Rifle Association was untiring in its efforts to entertain the team, and gave them a wonderful time. Mr. Masefield and most of the team will return to New Zealand by the Marama, which will sail on Friday for Wellington.—A. and N.Z. THAMES CLUB’S SHOOT The Thames Defence Rifle Club completed its third shoot for Messrs. Brown and Company’s trophy on Saturday. A. E. Pearson headed the list with 94 out of a possible of 100. Details of the shooting are: A. E. Pearson (handicap 2), 49 at 200yds, 43 at 300yds, total 94; R. Pearson (8), 43, 42 —93; R. Cameron (scr.), 45, 46 —91; A. Somerville (3), 43, 40— SS; A. Poole (15), 38, 35 —SS; P. Trebilcock (5), 40, 40—85. In the aggregate for the Brown trophy R. Cameron, who is president of the club, secured the highest score for the best two of three shoots. Details are: R. Cameron, 95, 94, total 189; A. E. Pearson. 94, 94 —188; R. Pearson, 94, 94 —188: C. Cameron, 92, 90—182; A. Somerville. 90, 88—178; J. Morrison. 91, 84—175: A. Poole, 88, 85 —173; I-\ Trebilcock, So, 85 —171.
