TOWN PLANNING
MOUNT EDEN’S ATTITUDE ANOTHER CONFERENCE NEEDED The Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. E. H. Potter, at the meeting of the borough council last evening, referred to the discontinuance of negotiations between the City Council and local bodies regarding town-planning problems. The Mayor stated that he wished to dispel the idea that the local bodies had failed to call another conference. The City Council had written saying that it did not propose to take any further action. Mr. Potter had written to Mr. G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland, suggesting the calling of another conference at an early date; also asking Mr. Baildon to consider the advisability of setting up a committee of 14 and limiting the demands of the city to seven members.
It might be necessary, said Mr. Potter, for him to call another conference when the local bodies would be able to appoint their own townplanner. Town-planning formed part of proposals, he said, to be considered by the next conference to be called for the discussion of the revision of local government.
