BIG POWER LOAN

POLL ON NOVEMBER 17 BOOTH IN AUCKLAND CITY T'kAYLIGHT SAVING has even upset the organisation of loan polls. All the preliminaries having been competed, the Waitemata Power Board has decided that the poll on the £BO,OOO loan proposal will be held on Thursday, November 17 and that an extension of the hour of polling to 7 o’clock in place of the previous hour of 6 o’clock should be sought. Mr. A. Main, acting-secretary of the board, pointed out that under the Power Boards’ Act polls could not be taken outside the Board’s area so that it was doubtful whether the Board could have a booth in Auckland City. Other legislation, however, provided that premises such as the Board’s office was deemed to be within the rating area. The Board’s solicitor was considering the position and would have a legal opinion ready in a few days. The thanks of the Board were tendered to Mr. W. J. Holds worth, for his work in expediting the sanction of the £BO,OOO loan by the Local Bodies’ Loans Board.
