NEW REGENT
“ROUGH HOUSE ROSIE” “Rough House Rosie,” Clara Bow’s rollicking rival of “It,” her first starring vehicle, is the Paramount picture now being shown to large audiences at the New Regent Theatre. In this swift-rtravelling tale of carefree youth, the fiery-haired possessor of “personality plus” plays a diversity of parts. She’s the irrepressible child from Tenth Avenue out for a good time with her sweety; she is Rosie, flaming leader of her “Six Roughnecks” in a cabaret; she is Miss O’Reilly, belle of the upper social set’s most brilliant ball and finally, she’s the loyal little girl who brings the middle-weight championship to Joe Hennessey, her big-hearted, big-fisted lover. Joe is played by Reed Howes, Hollywood’s newest leading man sensation, who is co-featured with Arthur Housman, Doris Hill, Paramount contract actress, and Douglas Gilmore. Others who play in support of the dancing-eyed star are John Miljan and Henry Kolker. The picture was directed by Frank Strayer. It was taken from Nunnally Johnson’s Saturday “Evening Post” story of the same name. Louise Long and Ethel Doherty wrote the screen play.
