OLD-AGE PENSIONER
“TIME HE WAS DEAD” WAS IT FIRST OCCASION? Periodically the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association has before it certificates as to the deaths of horses. These certificates show the cause of death. Among the budget of such certificates that came before the board recently was one concerning a horse whose age was given as 32 years. The cause of death was stated to be that the horse had fallen and broken a leg. Mr. W. Hayward: Well, he had a good spin. The chairman, Mr. J. H. Williams: He ought to be dead. Mr. H. W. Kitchingham: I suppose it was the first time in his life!
