DIMMER LIGHTS

CHARGES TOO HIGH CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH VEXED (From Our Own Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE, To-day. The Cambridge Power Board yesterday again considered a proposal by the chairman that the question of fixing charges for street lighting in the borough be re-opened with a view to a reduction. The motion was defeated by five votes to three. Mr. Richards, the Mayor, accused the board of being actuated t?y spite against the Borough Council owing to the old-standing disagreement regarding the council’s claim against the board. This assertion was strongly repudiated by members. Mr. Richards also threatened that if a reduction were not made in the charges the Borough Council would reduce the candle-power of the street lights.
