PAPATOETOE FINANCE

HALF-YEARLY BALANCE The half-yearly balance sheet of the Papatoetoe Town Board shows the total income to be £2,654 14s 4d, and the expenditure for the same period as £3,746 7s Id. At the beginning of the term the board had a credit balance of £964, which has turned to a debit of £691. In the Great South Road roacling loan there is a credit of £1,106, which will no doubt be used for the formation and kerbing of the footpaths in that area. In the parks area loan there is a credit balance of £443, and it is understood that steps have been taken to obtain authority to use this money in the lay-out of the two grounds, and also for the formation of drives, etc. In connection with the Papatoetoe Town Hall account, a very satisfactory half-year has been experienced, a total income of £133 having been obtained from this source, which constitutes a record since the hall was erected, and prospects are very bright for the future, as the building is booked up for every night this month, including Sundays. According to the estimated income and expenditure balance, the sum of £1,138 11s Sd is shown as available for expenditure up to March 31 next.
