THAT EXTRA HOUR

OPINIONS AT MATAMATA Councillor S. H. Judd, Msiungatautari, took advantage at Friday’s meeting of the Matamata County Council to have a till, at the Daylight Saving Bill by moving a resolution to the effect that the council meet an hour later while the Act was in operation. j ie could not possibly get to the meetings in time when the clock was put forward, he stated, and he regretted that wh’en they were trying to draw town and country people closer together it should be forced on them. It appeared to be pure ignorance of country conditions on the pari, of townspeople. He moved that the council .start at 11.30 a m. during summer time. Councillor Bruce opposed the suggestion. stating that it wo aid mean he would have to work an hour later at night. Councillor Judd: Well, I get up at 4.30 a.m., and I’m if I am going to get up an hour earlier for any man. Councillors Darby and Rollett suggested a compromise by making the time eleven o'clock. Councillor Anderson, chairman, stated he was prepared to “give the A?t a go,” but if councillors did not favour this it was for them to say sc. Councillor Wilson seconded the motion, which was carried on the voices, there being three “No’s.”
