SLIGHT ACCIDENT SETS CAR ALIGHT

BODY-WORK DESTROYED A five-sea ter motor-car owned by Mr. G. H. Pierce, of Turama Road. One Tree Hill, was damaged by fire at Royal Oak abojt 4.30 p.m. yesterday. As Mr. Pierce was jacking up the rear right-hand wheel, thehandle of the jack, flying upward, entered the benzine tank and in a moment the car was enveloped In flames. When the Onehuga Brigade arrived on the scene the bystanders had almost extinguished the blaze. The engine and front of the car were undamaged, but the bodywork was totally destroyed. The damage i. 3 covered by insurance.
