THREE SMALL CITY FIRES
The City Fire Brigade was called out to three small fires yesterday. The first call at 1.42 p.m. was to a grass fire in a vacant section in Prospect Terrace. This was easily subdued with a single lead of hose. Later In the afternoon sparks from a passing engine ignited the lower weather-boards of a house at No. 15 King Street, Newmarket, occupied by Mrs. M Roberts. At 9.25: p.in. a call was received to a rubbish tip in Hereford Street, where a fire had broken out. This was soon extinguished.
