“PERVERT’S ATTEMPT AT INFANTICIDE”
DOCTOR’S OPINION LINWOOD POISONING CASE Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-daj*. Referring to the Linwood poisoning case, Dr. Orchard says: “Personally, I think it was a deliberate attempt at infanticide by some pervert, but that is only a surmise.” “It was apparently some irritant poison, ;such as salts of mercury, for the mouths of the boys became badly blistered and burnt. Each boy was pretty bad, and we are being very careful to make a thorough examination of the contents of their stomachs.” A Press Association message yesterday stated that a strange man gave two boys, aged five and three respectively, some lollies in a paper bag and that after eating them both children became ill.
