BIRTHDAY PARTY
A very enjoyable surprise birthday party was given to Miss Molly Christian, by her many young friends, in the Otahuhu Gas Company’s social rooms on Saturday evening, on the occasion of her 18th birthday. The evening was spent in dancing, games and musical items, the latter comprising a song by Miss Williams, and a pianoforte solo by Mrs. Fugle. The dance music was supplied by Mr. Lawson and Mr. Halsted, whose efforts were much appreciated by the happy gathering, dancing being indulged in till the midnight hour. A spot waltz competition was won by Mr. Salt and Mrs. Derbyshire, and the Monte Carlo by Florrie Christian and Walter Stubbing. Competitions also formed part of the evening’s amusement. and were won by Miss I>enby and Mr. Hieatt. During the evening a dainty supper was served by the hostesses, and the opportunity was taken to present the popular young guest with a beautiful birthday cake. The hall was very daintily decorated with black and red streamers and an abundance of arum lilies.
