MASSACRE IN SOLOMONS CRUISER DISPATCHED By Cable.—Frees Association.—Copyright SYDNEY. Sunday. In response to a request from the British Government the Commonwealth Government to-day decided to dispatch the cruiser Adelaide to the Solomon Islands for the protection of British residents there.
There is apprehension following the massacre by bush natives on Malaita Island of the British District Commissioner, a cadet, 15 native policemen, and the crew (all hut the boatswain) of the British Government’s small steamer Anki. It is feared that the native uprising may spread.—A. and N.Z.
