ONLY TWO SURVIVORS OF IMMIGRANT SHIP
ARRIVED 63 YEARS AGO To-day is the 63rd anniversary of the arrival at Auckland of the ship Columbus with 189 colonists from England on board. The only surviving colonists are believed to be Messrs. Archibald and James Thomas, who for many years were well-known mine-managers at Thames. The Columbus arrived in Auckland on October 10, 1864, after a good voyage of 115 days from the Downs. The vessel was commanded by Captain Robert Adie.
