FERRY AGROUND
STRANDED J>N SHOAL PASSENGERS’ LONG WAIT Passengers by the vehicular traffic ferry Elagle Hawk had ample time to gaze upon the undoubted charms of Auckland Harbour this morning. For nearly two and a-half hours the ferry was aground on a shoal or mudbank in the vicinity of Devonport. An attempt to tow the Eagle Hawk off was unsuccess fuL Passengers were eventually landed by dinghy. The Eagl e Hawlc, with the tide, was able to leave her unfortunate “mooring” at about 1.15 p.m. Meanwhile, several vehicles were forced to wait on the ferry.
