Titled Engineer

YOUNG ENGLISHMAN j 1 ARRIVES BY ROTORUA TO j | JOIN PERSONAL STAFF | OF GOVERNOR-GENERAL | J _J

KEEN ON SPORT

Two years ago a young engineer, working in Glasgow, was engaged in the construction of some air compressors for New Zealand. Little did he think that he would come to the Dominion to join the staff of his Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Sir Charles Fergusson. Lord Waleron was the young engineer. He arrived last evening by the Rotorua and will go on to Wellington this evening. Lord Waleron is a typical young Englishman, only 22 years of age, slim and athletic-looking. He succeeded to the title in 1925 on the death of his grandfather. During the voyage to New Zealand Lord Waleran has been an energetic secretary of a sports committee and when a representative of THE SUN found him, he was busy with papers relating to that important organisation which, the passengers agreed, had been a great success on the voyage. Lord Waleran was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, and later went to Glasgow to learn engineering. His family home is at Bradfield, Cullompton, Devonshire, in one of the loveliest parts of England. He is keenly anticipating his stay in New Zealand, as he enjoys shooting, fishing and boating. Before coming out Lard Waleran had heard much of New Zealand as a sportsman’s paradise.
