SOLDIERS’ CAMPS

BATTERY AT NORTH HEAD Seven officers and 206 men of the 13th Coast Battery, New Zealand Artillery, will begin the military camping season on Saturday, October 29, at North Head. The tents will be pitched on a promontory at the foot of the western slope. The syllabus of practice and theory will be gone through and advice will be received from men of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, the permanent corps. “Firing Day,” when the guns will aim at moving targets in Rangitoto Channel, is set down for November 4. Captain C. J. Duff will be the camp commandant. This week-end, the Northern Depot, New Zealand Corps of Signallers, is in camp at Narrow Neck. During the first fortnight in December a refresher course for staff officers and men will be held there. The Hopuhopu camp at Ngaruawahia will be used by the Northern Depot, New Zealand Army Service Corps on January 14.
