CLAIMANT FOR THE HONOURS
IN placing Betty Moko within one second of Waikaha, Handicapper Geo. Paul is endorsing the opinion of many good judges that there is not much between them. In the last Rowe Cup contest, the daughter of Peter Moko —Papatina, in receipt of 24 yards, finished a head behind J. Paul’s trotter, after making a bold bid for victory. Betty was, later on, responsible for two creditable efforts, which gained her third money, but her crowning success was achieved at Alexandra Park at the winter fixeure.
Although the going was holding and militated against times, Betty Moko ran her heats each day like a real champion, her effort on the concluding day being a particularly fine one. The Peter Moko mare will this season dispute the supremacy of the province with Waikaha, and the clashes between the pair should be well worth witnessing.
