Murray, of Dunedin, who have been on a visit to Auckland, have left by mdtor on their return. Mr. and Mrs. Eliot Davis are returning by the Aorangi from an extended trip abroad and will stay at the Grand Hotel. * * * Miss Nola Luxford, New Zealand’s sole screen star at Hollywood, has married again. Her husband on this occasion is William Bauerschmidt, junr., a wealthy business man of Baltimore, where the New Zealand girl will make her home. Nola Luxford is a Palmerston North girl, who was educated in Palmerston North and at Wanganui Girls’ College. With her first husband, Maurice Luxford, another Palmerstonian, she went to California, meeting with success in the movies. RECENT WEDDINGS

HISLOP—McLACHLAN For the marriage of Helen Binnie, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McLachlan, of Auckland, and Richard, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Hislop, the Richmond Presbyterian Church was beautifully decorated on Wednesday with a wealth of stately lilies and camellias. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Angus McDonald. Miss J. Fowler presided at the organ, and the bride was given away by her father. The bridegroom, who is a well-known Soccer rep. in Auckland, was attended by Mr. A. W. Adams as best man. The bridal frock was daintily expressed in ivory crepe alonza, inset with panels of silver lace, while a long lace veil fell in graceful tolds from a coronet of orange blossoms and silver leaves. The bride carried a shower bouquet of white sweet peas and carnations. The bridesmaids were Miss Margaret McLachlan, sister of the bride, and Miss Ella Johnston, and their frocks were of rose pink crepe de chine with deeply scalloped hems, trimmed with tiny hand-made flowers of a pastel blue tint. They each wore a headdress of silver tissue and carried bouquets of pink sweet peas and carnations. After the ceremony a reception was held in St. Columba’s Kali, where a large number of guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore an attractive gown of aavy blue crepe de chine relieved with oeige and a smart beige hat. She carried a charming posy of violets and carnations. When the bride and groom left later for a wedding tour the former wore an effective ensemble suit of delphinium blue repp with a beige hat and a Kit Fox fur stole. THOMPSON—MILLS On the silver anniversary of her mother’s wedding day, Edna Lilian, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Mills, of Howick, became the bride of Edward, the younger son of Mrs. M. Thompson. The pretty wedding took place in St. Mark’s Church. Remuera. and was solemnised by the Rev. G. Cruickshank. The bride was given away by her father, and the bridegroom vras attended by Mr. H. Heald. of Auckland, as best man. White georgette was used to fashion the bride’s dainty frock, and was prettily trimmed with self ruchings- A delightful veil of filmy lace that had been worn 25 years before by the bride’s mother fell from a coronet of orange blossoms, and added an air of delicate beauty to her frock.
