WESTFIELD REVIEWED CATTLE MARKET EASIER Cattle in all sections were easier at Westfield yesterday. Sheep were, if anything, slightly firmer. Well-finished cattle were largely in evidence, and some exceptionally fine beasts came forward. An increased yarding and the fact that the big buyers had to a certain extent satisfied their requirements outside combined to bring about a general ejising in values. Indifferently finished and extra heavy beasts suffered most A few pens of extra prime big framed woolly wethers came forward, the majority of the offering being light and only indifferently finished. A larger offering of shorn sheep was submitted, including several extra prime pens of b.g framed wethers, which made to £1 12s 3d. Wellfinished woolly ewes came forward in more than average numbers and met with keen competition. Woolly hoggets also sold well, a prime pen on account of G. L. Laird, making 325. A pen of woolly ewes on account of the same vendor made 375. A heavier yarding of spring lambs made firm values, in many cases equal to over Is a lb on the hooks. Prim© wethers made to 41s 3d; light and unfinished, 2Ss to 355; shorn heavy prime wethers to 32s 3d; shorn ewes made to 27s 9d: spring lambs made from 23s to 38s. About the average number of fat pigs came forward, and a steady sale eventuated, but there was no improvement in prices. Choppers sold at £2 15s to £4 2s; extra heavy prime baconers, £3 10s to £3 15s; medium baconers, £3 5s to £3 8s; h&ht? to £3 3s; heavy porkers, £2 15s to £- 19s; medium, £2 10s to £2 14s. light, £2 6s to £2 Ss; small and unfinished, £1 18s to £2 ss; store pigs realised late rates; best made £2, smaller, £1 13s to £1 16s; slips, £1 7s to £1 10s, weaners, 15s to £ 1 3s.
